Overview

This is a 3-day tour that takes you to Jinja town to see the source of the mighty Nile River Nile and other spectacular tourist attractions along the way. The first stop will be at Ssezibwa Falls believed to be borne by humans after which you will proceed to Mabira Forest, a semi-deciduous forest famous for walking and cycling trails.

The forest is home to over 100 species of large moths, butterfly fauna, and about 300 species of birds. You will continue to the final destination of this trip in Jinja; a town endowed with remarkable tourist attractions that include the Source of the mighty Nile river, the Bujagali Falls, and the old Styled Indian buildings among others. White water rafting and bungee jumping are also popular activities that attract many tourists to this great river.

Jinja Nile River Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Uganda

You will be met at the airport by our safari guide who will transfer you to the hotel reserved for you in Kampala. Dinner and overnight will be at this hotel.

Accommodation: Anderita Beach Hotel, Papyrus Guesthouse Entebbe, Gately Inn Entebbe (mid-range)
Main plan: No meal.

Day 2: Visit the source of the Nile River in Jinja

Our guide will pick you up from your hotel at 7.00 am and drive you to Jinja in the eastern part of the country. You will have a stopover at the Ssezibwa falls which according to local beliefs are said to have been born by humans.

You will then proceed to visit Mabira Forest, the largest remaining tropical forest in Central Uganda, and then continue to Jinja where you will have your lunch. You will have a brief drive through this historical town after which you will visit the source of the Nile and explore it by boat. You will then retire to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: White water rafting and return to Kampala

You will, after breakfast, go for the adventurous white water rafting on the Nile River. The rafting begins at the Source of the Nile at 09:30 am with a comprehensive briefing and being fitted with the special rafting gear. The rafting is done on an 18-kilometre stretch of the Nile River and no prior experience of rafting is required.

The first few rapids are of low grade (1, 2) to build the confidence of the participants before guiding them gradually into the more challenging grades. A total of eight major rapids are rafted to maximize the adrenaline rush of this adventure. You will, after the rafting adventure, be treated to a barbecue lunch and drinks before setting off for Kampala. Dinner and overnight will be at your hotel. No accommodation will be provided.
