The Uganda Gorilla Trekking safari takes you to the misty Bwindi Impenetrable forest, which is home to more than half the population of the remaining 720 Mountain Gorillas.  Bwindi Impenetrable forest offers a unique birding opportunity, cultural experiences, a scenic allure of stunning hills and lush vegetation inhabited by the elusive primates and pygmies.  Gorilla tracking is the most enchanting experience in this forest. Uganda Gorilla trekking adventure offers an experience of a life time watching at close range these majestic apes as feed, play, relax and bond with the young. You will have an opportunity to hike the volcanoes or to trek the Golden monkeys in Mgahinga National Park. You will crown your safari with an experience at the Equator.

Safari Itinerary 

Day 1: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

We start off  the Uganda gorilla trekking adventure early and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, 8-9 hours away. This route is well endowed with remarkable tourist attractions including the Equator line, savannah plains, the rolling hills and rich cultural backdrop. Lunch is at one of the many stopover points on the way.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking

You will have an early breakfast and be driven to the Park Headquarters for a briefing on the rules of Uganda gorilla trekking. After the briefing, you will set off for the gorilla trekking in very thick vegetation. Gorilla Trekking takes between 2 – 8 hours and you will have one hour to stay with these intelligent, majestic, and gentle giants that share over 90% of their genetic material with humans. In the afternoon you will drive to Kisoro town near the border with Rwanda and Congo. The drive will be through a beautiful part of the country often referred to as ‘the Switzerland of Africa’ because of its unique cool weather despite being near the Equator. You will see a great country-side, bamboo forests and have great views of the Virunga Mountains. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodged of your booking.

Day 3: Hiking / Trekking / Canoe ride / Local coffee preparation experience

On the third day of the Uganda gorilla trekking adventure we choose one of the four complimentary tour that can be undertaken in this place. You will either go for Volcano hiking, Golden monkey trekking, Canoe ride on Lake Mutanda or be taken through the process of how coffee is raised in the garden and locally processed for drinking. You will return to your lodge for a late lunch and spend the rest of the day resting till dinner time and overnight.

Day 4: Travel back to Kampala

You will depart Bwindi after breakfast and travel back to Kampala with a stopover for lunch in Mbarara town. You will continue the journey and make another stopover at the Equator where you will have an opportunity to stand in two hemispheres at the same time and take some photos arriving in Kampala in the late afternoon.
