6 Days Queen Elizabeth, Gorilla Tracking & Mburo Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Uganda

You will be met at the airport by our safari guide who will transfer you to the hotel reserved for you in Kampala. Dinner and overnight will be at this hotel. 

Accommodation: Anderita Beach Hotel, Papyrus Guesthouse Entebbe, Gately Inn Entebbe
Meal plan: Dinner.

Day 2: Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Boat Cruise

You will set off after breakfast and head west of Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey will take you 6-7 hours. You will have a stopover at the Equator where you will have an opportunity to stand in 2 hemispheres at the same time and take memorial photos.

You will continue to Mbarara town where you will have lunch before proceeding to Queen Elizabeth National Park. In the afternoon you will go for a two-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel which connects Lakes George and Edward and view concentrations of giant hippos, elephants, and crocodiles among others. You will also see many varieties of birds on the water shores. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge booked for you.

Day 3: Game Drive and travel to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

You will wake up early for a morning game drive in the park during which you will see Lions, Elephants, Topis, Leopards, Bushbucks, Cape Buffaloes, Defassa Waterbucks, Giant Forest Hogs, Uganda Kobs, among others. You will return to your lodge for a late breakfast after which you will travel to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. You will see a great countryside, bamboo forest and have great views of the scenic landscape characteristic of the western rift valley. For lunch, you will stop at a local restaurant enroute.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi and cultural tour

You will have an early morning breakfast and move to the Park headquarters to join other trackers in a briefing about the gorilla trekking rules at 7:45 am. You will trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the Gorillas, which can take you 1-8 hours.

The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access by tourists. You will have one hour to stay with the Gorillas once sited before returning to your lodge. Time allows, you will go for a guided community walk to experience the livelihoods of the local communities.

You may visit a traditional herbalist to see how he prepares native medicine to treat a wide array of human sicknesses, see a blacksmith manufacturing local tools used in everyday life and see how local beer is brewed using local methods. You will also be entertained by the traditional dances offered by the community.

Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge of booking.

Day 5: Game drive in the Mburo Park and boat cruise on the Lake

You will have an early breakfast and travel to Lake Mburo National Park centered on a series of swamp-fringed lakes rich in birdlife while its green acacia woodland harbors wildlife like the Zebra, warthog, Elands, Impala among others which can be seen even as you enter the park.

You will have a 2-hour game drive and go for lunch at the lodge reserved for you. In the afternoon you will go for a boat ride on L. Mburo and get quite close to the crocodiles and hippos. You will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Travel to Kampala

You will after breakfast go for another game drive before setting off on your return journey to Kampala. You will have a stopover at the Equator where you will have an opportunity to stand in two hemispheres at the same time and take some photos.

You will also make another stopover at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers center where you will be able to watch the ceremonial drums being crafted using traditional methods passed down through the generations.

You will arrive in Kampala in the late afternoon and either be transferred to the airport for your departure flight or to the hotel of your booking for dinner and overnight.
