corona virus in Uganda- COVID-19, Novel Coronavirus is a family group of viruses that cause severe health conditions which range from the common cold to the deadly disorder of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome [MERS-Cov19] and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome [SARS-Cov19].

Corona virus is not transmitted through any animals. However, the deadly coronavirus is transmitted through human beings alone. It is spread through the negligence of human beings like not being hygiene, touching a transmitted surface which has the virus and touching their eyes, nose and mouth.

The main symptoms of Coronavirus are; cold, fever, cough, shortness of breath, muscle ache and diarrhoea.

Corona virus in Uganda:

As of Wednesday, March 25, 2020, the numbers of COVID19 confirmed cases in Uganda is 14, announced by Dr.JoyceMoriku, the minister of State for Primary Health Care.

“Dear Ugandans, this is a very critical moment for everyone as the number of positive cases keeps scaling up. Five more people have been confirmed positive, including two of the six Chinese natinals that were got in Zombo. They cannot be presented in court for fear of further spread,”

she tweeted on Wednesday afternoon.

The government has since banned all public gatherings, as well as closed schools and institutions of learning, bars, night clubs and also, travels in and out of the East African country to stem the Coronavirus spread, which would challenge the healthcare system.

Only emergency landing by plane will be allowed on Uganda now, President Museveni had announced on Saturday.

Due to the Coronavirus, the conservationist warns about the risk of vulnerable species; Africa endangered mountain gorillas. Hence, Uganda is barring visitors until June 1^st as per the advice of scientific experts, who said there are risk of complications arising from COVID19 for primates including mountain gorillas. It is also said that Mountain gorillas are prone to respiratory illness that afflicts humans.

Tourism updates in Uganda due to COVID19:

Due to outbreak of Novel coronavirus in Uganda , the management of Uganda wildlife authority has gone through the current situation and come up with certain measures that will serve to protect Uganda’s wildlife, heritage, staff and visitors.

The primate tourism and Research Centre which is the main attraction of Uganda, Filming of primates in Uganda, the wildlife protected areas in Uganda are all suspended until April 30, 2020 effective from March 25, 2020.

The primate trackers who are responsible to look around the primates will be provided with Personal Protective equipment [PPE] to avoid any kind of possible infection passing to primates.

Any kind of commercial vehicles and bicycles are prohibited in protected areas as per the safety precautions.

A team of the internal COVID19 task force has been formed to work closely with the National Task Force to update and guide management on day to day development regarding the pandemic. They are also said to check coronavirus implications to wildlife conservations and tourism in a protected area.
