Overview

This 3 day tour takes you to Lake Mburo National Park for wildlife viewing, bird watching, boat trips and guided nature walks. The Park contains an extensive area of wetland and harbours several species of mammals including zebras, impalas, elands, topi and buffaloes. The bird population is also impressive including the rare Shoebill stork.

This park is the only place in Uganda where Impala can be found and the best place to see large herds of Elands (African’s largest Antelopes). It is also the only park where a guided game walk is possible.

3 Days Lake Mburo Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Travel to Lake Mburo National Park

You will depart Kampala for Lake Mburo National Park after breakfast. The drive takes 3-4 hours with stopovers at areas of tourist attraction such as the Equator for an opportunity to stand in both the northern and southern hemispheres at the same time.

You will continue through the savannah grasslands dotted with homesteads, banana plantations and herds of local long horned Ankole cattle endemic to this part of the country.

You will have lunch at the lodge booked for you after which you will go for a boat launch on Lake Mburo to see hippos, crocodiles and various bird species. You will retire to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Game drive and game walk

You will have an early morning game drive through the park in search of plain game like zebra, hippos, crocodiles, eland, antelope, impala and a variety of birds. You will return to your lodge for breakfast and then take a guided nature walk.

This walk takes you to the salt lick area which offers a chance to see at least four different species of animals at any one point while they lick the salty soil. You will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Travel back to Kampala

After Breakfast you will another game guided walk to see the animals at close range on foot after which you will start your return journey to Kampala arriving in the late afternoon.
