Types of Visa available for Uganda:

  • Single entry visa – Passport should be valid for a minimum of 6 months and pre-arrangement is required to apply for a single entry or tourist visa. This visa is non-extendable.
  • Multi-entry visa – This differs from 6-12 months, 24 months and 36 months. This is for short term multiple entries and cannot be extended.
  • Student visa – Entry for students who are not the nationalist of East Africa.
  • East African Tourist visa – This offers three multiple entries for Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.

The government of Uganda has allowed releasing of electronic visas for all eligible nationalists. Hence, now you can get Uganda E-Visa online. The process and requirements are easy and do not take much of your time. And, it’s affordable too.

What are the requirements to apply for E-visa:

The requirements to apply for E-visa are:

  • Passport – All applicants must obtain a passport and must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival to Uganda.
  • A copy of the passport –  mainly the information page
  • A recent passport size photo
  • Vaccination certificate of yellow fever – if you do not have this document, you may be subjected to vaccination on arrival and some possible measures will be taken.

How much does it cost:

The Uganda E-visa can be obtained in 3 different options determining the cost.

  • Standard processing – this is processed within 6 business days and costs you USD $86.50
  • Rush processing – the waiting period is only 4 business days and it costs you USD $116.50
  • Super rush processing – the visa is processed in just 2 business days and the cost is USD $151.50
  • The above cost is for the tourist visa and transit e-visa.

The cost of East African Visa is USD $148.00 for 6 days, USD $178.00 for 4 days and USD $213.00 for 2 business days.

How long does it take to get it:

The maximum wait time to get Uganda Visa is 6 business days and if you need it sooner you can opt for Rush processing and get the visa in 4 business days.

Is it safe to visit Uganda:

In short; yes! It is safe to visit Uganda. However, you will need to take extra caution at night; like, instead of walking at night use a taxi or pre-arranged transfer. If you must walk; stick with your group.

Do not display wealth; petty theft is quite common, it’s better not to wear jewellery and keep cameras in a bag.
