Uganda Suspends Mandatory COVID-19 testing for arriving passengers

The mandatory testing at the airport for arriving passengers has been suspended with effect from 16th February 2022. In a press release issued after a cabinet resolution to stop it in a way to a seamless travel experience to visitors to the country.

The suspension of mandatory testing is informed by:

-The decline in positive cases identified at the airport
-Reduction in global threat on new variants of concern (VoC) and therefore reduced risk of importation of VoC that will increase community transmission.

All tourists arriving in the country must however present a negative COVID -19 PCR negative results valid within 72hrs upon arrival. All passengers will be screened at the airport. Departing passengers will also be required to present a negative departure PCR test taken 72hrs prior to boarding.
