Uganda Gorilla Safaris

Nicknamed the “Pearl of Africa,” Uganda sparkles with dazzling greenery, deep lakes, soaring mountains and perhaps the greatest natural treasure of all – half of the world’s last remaining mountain gorilla population. On Saso Uganda Safaris, Uganda Gorilla Safaris take into the heart of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and see these incredible, endangered creatures from closer than you ever thought possible.

Gorilla safaris and treks are based in Rwanda and Uganda, whose spectacular lush jungles provide the perfect habitat for the endangered Mountain Gorilla population. While there has been an increase in the Gorilla population in recent years, they are still one of world’s the most endangered species, in desperate need of conservation. Our Uganda Safaris are private and personalised to meet, satisfy and exceed every traveller’s expectations.

Best Time For Uganda Gorilla Safari

Uganda Gorilla Safaris is done throughout the year and gorilla trekking permits are issued day by day but most tourists enjoy trekking during the dry months of the year which are January-February and May-September. During these months, the land is drier though some little raindrops are experienced but its more comfortable for the tourists due to the less muddy conditions and clear sky.

The permit cost for Gorilla Trekking Uganda is $600 per person and gorilla habituating is $1500 per person. What To Expect On A Gorilla Safari

On the day of your trek, expect to leave your comfortable bed early enough, and move to the briefing point by 7:30 am. After the briefing, tourists will be allocated different tracking routes, every 8 tourists. Head to the forest accompanied by guides and rangers as you begin your search for gorillas.

In the forest, you may see monkey species, butterfly species, mammals and so much more. Sometimes the forest is challenging and a good level of fitness will be required. At the end of the day, expect to be muddy and sweaty.

Once you see the gorillas, it’s okay to take photos with your camera or iPhone but avoid flash or else the gorillas might charge. You will spend between 40 minutes and 1 hour in the company of these gentle giants. It will be such a life-changing experience. After the trek, head back to your accommodation or opt for a cultural village experience of the Batwa pygmies.

How Your Gorilla Safari Helps Conserve The Gorillas

The money raised from tourism is used to conserve the few remaining Gorillas In Uganda since these animals are highly endangered. This has promoted an increase in the number of mountain gorillas lately. I would like to add on the power to save these gorillas is in the tourist’s hands only by visiting them.

Part of the money is also given to the surrounding local communities in Bwindi to promote education and the provision of food.
