This 5-day gorilla tracking safari takes you to the misty Bwindi Impenetrable forest, which is home to more than half the population of the remaining 880 Mountain Gorillas in the world.  Gorilla tracking is the most enchanting experience in this forest. You will have an experience of a lifetime as you watch at close range these majestic apes feed, play, and relax.

You will have the option of enjoying a community walk among the Batwa people who used to stay in the forest before it was gazetted and learn about their interesting past or tracking Golden monkeys in the Mgahinga forest. You will conclude this tour with a visit to Lake Mburo National Park for a game drive and boat launch.

5 Days Gorilla Tracking Safari , Itinerary 

Day 1: Arrival in Uganda

You will be met at the airport by our safari guide who will transfer you to the hotel reserved for you in Kampala. Dinner and overnight will be at this hotel. You’ll be briefed about the next day’s gorilla tracking safari before you check-in.

Day 2: Travel to Bwindi

After breakfast, we’ll embark on the gorilla tracking safari adventure by traveling south-westwards to Bwindi Impenetrable forest, the home of the Mountain gorillas. We’ll have a stopover at the Equator where you will have an opportunity to stand in 2 hemispheres at the same time and take memorial photos. You will continue to Mbarara town where you will have lunch before proceeding to Bwindi. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge of your booking.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking safari in Bwindi

Our gorilla tracking safari continues on the 3rd day after having an early breakfast and we drive to the Park Headquarters for a briefing about the rules of Gorilla tracking. After the briefing, you will set off for the Gorilla hunt in the thick jungle. The jungle is very lively with rich forest sounds. The trek ranges between 2 – 8 hours and you will have one hour to stay with the Gorillas once sited before returning to your lodge. Time allows you will go for a guided nature walk around the lodge.

Day 4: Golden Monkey trekking or Batwa trail and travel to Mburo

After your morning breakfast, you will drive to Mgahinga National park where you can either go for Golden monkey trekking or go for a community walk among the Batwa people who used to live in the Bwindi forest before it was gazetted as a National Park and learn about their life and culture as a forest people. You will have lunch and then travel to Lake Mburo National Park. Time allowing, you will have an evening boat ride on the Lake Mburo and later retire for dinner and overnight at the lodge of your booking.

Day 5: Game drive in Mburo and travel to Kampala

After breakfast, you will go for a game drive before proceeding to Kampala with a stopover at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers’ village where you will be able to watch the Royal ceremonial drums being crafted using traditional methods passed down through generations. Time allows you will visit a craft village to buy some souvenirs before being transferred to the Airport for your departure flight. No accommodation is provided.
